Walt Disney World Resort Opens in Orlando, Florida
On this day in 1971, Walt Disney World Resort opened in Orlando, Florida with the Magic Kingdom. Since that time
it has added Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios (now called Disney's Hollywood Studios), and Disney's Animal Kingdom.
According to the trade magazine Park World, Disney Magic Kingdom boasted approximately 17 million visitors in 2007
making it the number one visited theme park worldwide. Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studio's and Disney's Animal
Kingdom took places 6, 7, and 8.
