The Barbie Doll Makes its Debut at the
American International Toy Fair in New York

On this day in 1959, Barbie is introduced at the American International Toy Fair for the first time. Created by American business woman Ruth Handler and manufactured by Mattel, Inc., Barbie has been a big part of the toy fashion doll market ever since.
