November 10, 1969

Sesame Street Premiers on PBS Television

On this day in 1969, Sesame Street aired for the first time. Sesame Street was one of the early pioneers in educational television and is the longest running children's program on American Television. As of 2006 it had received 109 Emmy Awards and an estimated 77 million Americans watched the series as children.
