ON THIS DAY IN UNITED STATES HISTORY
November 11, 1620
The Mayflower Compact is Signed by 41 Pilgrims
On this day in 1620, 41 of the 102 pilgrims from the Mayflower signed the Mayflower Compact. Although this was
not a majority of the settlers, it was still considered a social contract which would govern Plymouth Colony and
establish the first basis for written laws in America. Barely more than half of the original 102 passengers
survived the first winter but the remainder lived on.
