United States President Abraham Lincoln
is Fatally Shot in Ford's Theatre
On this day in 1865, actor John Wilkes Booth fatally shot Abraham Lincoln in Ford's Theatre. Lincoln would die
from his wound the next morning.
That same night, the Secretary of State, William H. Seward was also attacked by Lewis Powell as part of a greater
consipiracy to overthrow the U.S. government. Seward was wounded but survived.
