Readmitted Into the Union After the Civil War
On this day in 1870, Georgia became the last former Confederate state to re-join the union, five years after the
end of the Civil War.
Georgia had Seceded from the Union on January 19, 1861 and joined the Confederacy on February 4, 1861.
