President Abraham Lincoln Establishes the
The United States Bureau of Agriculture

On this day in 1862, President Abraham Lincoln signed a bill to create the United States Bureau of Agriculture which would later be renamed the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The United States Department of Agriculture is responsible for developing and executing the policy on farming, agriculture, and food.
