The Communications Act of 1934 is Enacted
On this day in 1934, the Communications Act of 1934 was enacted, creating the Federal Communications Commission
(FCC) to replace the Federal Radio Commission.
On January 3, 1996, portions of this Act were repealed and replaced with the Telecommunications Act of 1996. This
was the first major overhaul of the United States telecommunications policy since 1934.
