Gambling is Re-legalized in Nevada
On this day in 1931, gambling is re-legalized in Nevada. Gambling had been legal in the mining towns but was
made illegal in 1909.
During the Great Depression as mining output declined, gambling was re-legalized in hopes to re-invigorate the
economy. It was intended to be a temporary but as the industry grew, outlawing it has never been seriously
considered.
