Six Members of the Molly Maguires are Hanged
On the day in 1877, six men who were members of The Molly Maguires were hanged in the prison at Pottsville,
PA.
The Molly Maguires (Mollies) were a group of coal miners in the anthracite coal region of Pennsylvania. These
miners formed a semi-secret society with origins in Ireland who's main purpose was to fight against the inhumane
conditions of the coal miners.
