The Libertarian Party is Formed

On this day in 1971, the Libertarian party was formed in Colorado Spring at the home of David Nolan. It was formed as an alternative to the Democratic and Republican parties whom they believe have diverged from the principles of the American Founding Fathers.

The Libertarian Party is one of the largest alternatives to the Democratic and Republican parties with more than 200,000 voters registered.
