Bruno Hauptmann is Found Guilty of the
Kidnapping and Murder of the Son of
Famous Aviator Charles Lindbergh
On this day in 1935, after a trial that lasted from January 2 to February 13, Bruno Richard Houptmann was found
guilty of first degree murder in the death of the 20 month old son of Charles Lindbergh. He was sentenced to death
and executed by electric chair on April 2, 1936. The press dubbed this "The Crime of the Century" at the time.
