The Battle of Fallen Timbers Occurs
On this day in 1794, the final battle of the Northwest Indian War occurs between American troops and several
Northwest Indian warriors from the Shawnee, Mingo, Delaware, Wyandot, Miami, Ottawa, Chippewa, and Potawatomi
tribes.
The group of Indians known as the Western Confederacy had achieved major victories over the previous several years
but the Battle of Fallen Timbers dealt them a resounding defeat and ended major hostilities in the region until
Tecumseh's War and the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811.
